• Dr. Michael R. Zile, M.D. is currently the Charles Ezra Daniel Professor of Medicine and Distinguished University Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina.
• Michael is a member of the Cardiology Division at the Ralph H. Johnson Department of Veteran's Affairs Health Care System in Charleston and the Director of the SmartState SC Center of Economic Excellence: Molecular Proteomics in Cardiovascular Disease, Prevention and Treatment and Director of the MUSC Cardiovascular Translational Research Center.
• Michael is an Adjunct Professor of Bioengineering at Clemson University and is the 2019 William S. Middleton Awardee for Outstanding Achievement in Biomedical Research and the 2020 South Carolina Governor’s Awardee for Excellence in Scientific Research.
• Michael's research career has focused on basic, translational and clinical research examining the mechanisms underlying the development and progression of heart failure; and determining how these mechanisms can be used to develop effective diagnostic, prognostic and treatment methods for Heart Failure, particularly heart failure with a preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
• Michael has authored > 475 peer-reviewed publications and research has been funded over his 42 year career by the NHLBI, VA, DOD, AHA, and industry.
